I teach the way I'd want to be taught: clearly, patiently, and with a plan you understand from the very first lesson. No shouting, no filler, no wasted time. Just purposeful progress at your pace.

Whether you're a complete beginner, picking things back up after a gap, or simply looking for an instructor who actually explains the why behind every manoeuvre, I teach in a way that sticks.

Outside of MB Driving I stay sharp through DRIVE, one of the UK's established instructor networks, keeping my own training up to date so your lessons reflect best current practice.

How lessons work

A clear route from
first lesson to test pass.

Three honest stages. Most pupils move through them at their own pace and we adapt as we go.

Step 1

Finding your feet

Controls, cockpit routine and quiet roads first. The car stops feeling like the obstacle and starts feeling familiar. No rushing.

Step 2

Building real confidence

Junctions, roundabouts, dual carriageways and busier roads. Independent driving introduced gradually, with clear feedback at every step.

Step 3

Become Test Ready

Mock tests on the real routes around your local test centre. Any remaining habits addressed before the day so you go in knowing you're ready.

All lessons are 2 hours at £42 an hour, because a 1-hour lesson barely gives you time to settle before you're heading back. More time per session means faster, steadier progress.

Common questions

Things pupils ask
before lesson one.

I'm really nervous. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most pupils are nervous before their first lesson, and plenty stay nervous for a while after. Lessons are calm and unhurried, we start somewhere quiet, and nothing moves faster than you're comfortable with. Nerves fade with time behind the wheel, and that's exactly what lessons are for.
How many lessons will I need?
Everyone is different, so there's no honest one-size answer. The DVSA suggests the average learner needs around 45 hours of professional tuition, often alongside private practice, but some need fewer and some need more. After your first lesson you'll get a realistic idea of where you're starting from, and we track progress openly so you always know how close you are to test standard.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are £84 for 2 hours (£42 an hour) on a pay as you go basis. A block of 5 lessons (10 hours) is £400, saving you £20. Test day, which includes a warm-up drive and use of the car for your test, is £110.
Why are all lessons 2 hours?
A 1-hour lesson barely gives you time to settle in before you're heading back. Two hours means you can pick up where you left off, work on something properly, and finish each session having genuinely moved forward. Most pupils find they need fewer total hours this way.
Which areas do you cover?
Lessons cover Cheltenham, Bishops Cleeve, Winchcombe, Tewkesbury, Northway, Gotherington, Gretton and Evesham. If you're nearby but not sure whether you're in range, just ask.
What happens after I message you?
Matt replies personally, usually the same day. We'll have a quick chat about your experience so far, what you're aiming for and when you're free, then find a slot for your first lesson. No forms, no call centre, and no obligation to book anything.
